MECHANIC FALLS – Mechanic Falls Veterans Park has received a 33-foot flag pole with an eight-foot yardarm featuring Armed Forces flags under the Stars and Stripes. The yardarm displays flags of the Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy.

First Vice Commander James Melvin of American Legion Post 150, Mechanic Falls, Poland and Minot, orchestrated the tribute to the Armed Forces, past and present.

The town of Mechanic Falls, under the direction of Sons of the American Legion member Scott Penney, donated a boulder on which a mounted Legion plaque reads, “Donated by the American Legion Post 150, Mechanic Falls, Minot, Poland 2003.”

The Civil War Monument is located in back of the flag pole.
