I am a senior at Leavitt Area High School. Throughout my high school career, the administration has pushed the Maine Learning Results. For all of those who don’t know, the Learning Results are guidelines the state set for those currently enrolled in school.
For students graduating in the class of 2007, meeting them is a requirement. I believe the whole concept of Learning Results is a waste of time and are not improving anything. They are a joke and do not help nor hinder the learning process that we have become accustomed to. It seems as though we were doing just fine without the Learning Results, and I see no point in enforcing them.
The learning results are supposed to help the students. If they were doing their job, one would think that it would show on tests such as the MEA’s.
They are just not helping anyone in the schools. I suppose if you don’t understand what I was saying, I am not a “Clear and Effective Communicator.”
