MEXICO – A lack of a quorum, the first in four years, prevented any action at Tuesday’s Region 9 board meeting.

The only item requiring action on the vocational school board’s agenda involved the acceptance of a $48,000 Perkins grant.

Director Deborah Guimont said the vote can be made at the Dec. 16 meeting.

Perkins money is distributed to vocational schools throughout much of the country.

Guimont said it will be used in the Region 9 secondary program to upgrade the computer lab, the diversified occupations kitchen and equipment for the certified nursing assistant program.

A portion of it will also be used in the adult and community education program.
