Dec. 4 – LEWISTON – Festival of Lights Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, outside of the Lepage Conference Center. Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children and adults, corner of Sabattus Street and Campus Avenue. Refreshments, holiday carols performed by Bates College Merrimanders. New is indoor holiday party, “Santa’s Workshop,” for children, $2. For information: 777-8863.

Dec. 5 – LEWISTON – Tree lighting, 20th annual Tree of Love, 4 p.m. Dec. 5, Central Maine Medical Center lobby, 12 High St. Buy a tree light (ranging from $5-$25) in memory of a loved one. As the tree and loved ones are celebrated, music program by flutist Kara Pavlak, sponsored by Woman’s Hospital Association. Proceeds to Cancer Care Immediate Needs Funds.

Dec. 6 – LEWISTON – Holiday Festival for Children, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 6, Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St., featuring childrens’ singer-song writer Rick Charette (“I Love Mud,” “Chickens on Vacation”), visit from Santa, Ed Morris magic show, karate demonstration, Mad Science, crafts, exhibits. Advance tickets, $5 for adults, $3 for children at Hannaford, Mr. Paperback and Advocates for Children at 783-3990. Tickets at the door, $7 for adults.

Dec. 7 – LEWISTON – Bates College Concert, Carols by Candlelight: 5 p.m., communal singing of carols with professor of music Marion Anderson, organist, and a cappella groups, Bates College Chapel. For more information 786-8272.

Dec. 12 – L/A Children’s Chorus, 7 p.m. Dec. 12, Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, Bates College, directed by Brian Franck, Christmas music for hand bells and treble voices. Admission, $8 in advance at Hannaford stores, $10 at the door; for more information 753-0970.

Dec. 11-13 – LEWISTON – Seventh annual living nativity by the Vineyard Church of Lewiston, 9 Foss Road. Scene set indoors with stable, hay, live animals and actors performing both drama and dance. Also tour the “hall of trees,” Dickens carolers, horse and wagon ride and refreshments. Nine shows at: 7 and 8 p.m. Dec. 11; 6, 7 and 7:45 p.m. Dec. 12; 5:30, 6:30, 7:15 and 8 p.m. Dec. 13. Dec. 12-14 – LEWISTON – “The Wind in the Willows” by The Public Theatre, Lewiston-Auburn’s professional theatre; beloved holiday story about whimsical adventure in the wild woods with Toad, Rat, Badger and Mole. Perfect for adults and children, four performances, 8 p.m. Dec. 12; 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 13; and 2 p.m. Dec. 14, theater on corner of Lisbon and Maple streets, tickets $16 adult, children under 12, $11. Dec. 13 – LEWISTON – Choir performing traditional, contemporary Christmas music featuring cantata, “All is Calm, All is Bright,” presented by Delta Heart, a non-profit, non-denominational music ministry, 8 p.m. Dec. 13, Saints Peter and Paul Church. Free.

Other performances include 6 p.m. Dec. 7, Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn; 6 p.m. Dec. 20, East Auburn Baptist Church, Auburn.

Dec. 13-14 – AUBURN – “Sounds of Christmas” concert and dinner, presented by Magic & Co.; compilation of popular holiday music and carols, cabaret-style dining with chorus performing; audience treated to soup, breadsticks, game of Christmas trivia; special guest is Maine humorist Joe Perham; visit from Santa, more songs and dessert and coffee. Deadline for reservations is Dec. 7. Event sold out last year. Shows at 8 p.m. Dec. 13, 4 p.m. Dec. 14, Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Cost: $15. Reservations: 753-6260.

Dec. 13-14 – AUBURN – “Holiday in Light,” evening of seasonal and Broadway songs for all ages, starring Mitchell Clyde Thomas, teacher at Central Maine Community College, singer pianist; Bob Gauthier of Saco, tenor; and Kristen Thomas, Cape Elizabeth, soprano. The trio will sing show tunes and holiday songs, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13, 2 p.m. Dec. 14, at Central Maine Community College’s Kirk Auditorium, 1250 Turner St., Auburn. Suggested donation: $5, proceeds to benefit CMCC’s theater program, The Lakeside Players. No reservation seating.

Dec. 17 – AUBURN – Popular seasonal music by Auburn Community Band, 57-member band conducted by Milt Simon, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Dec. 17; Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, Bates College; information call Auburn Recreation Department, 784-0191.
