SCARBOROUGH – Steve Ames of Winthrop has been appointed manager of New England Motor Freight’s Portland area terminal, 7 Manson Libby Road in Scarborough. He will have overall operations responsibility for the 50-door facility, which serves Maine and northern New Hampshire.

Ames has spent his entire 32-year career in the industry in Maine, most recently as a regional sales manager for Allen’s Expedited in Augusta. Prior to that, he was a terminal manager for Viking Express in Portland and St. Johnsbury Trucking in Scarborough.

Ames earned a B.S. at Husson College in Bangor and an MBA at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. He is a board member and volunteer lake monitor for the Cobbossee Watershed District and a past president of the Hamden Kiwanis Club.

Ames retired as a first sergeant after 23 years service in the reserves with the 195th Army Band. Ames and his wife, Sandra, have three children and three grandchildren.
