1908 – 2003

RUMFORD – Alma Marcoux, 95, a resident of Waldo Street died Monday evening, Dec. 15, at Rumford Community Hospital following a long illness.

She was born in Rogersville, N.B., Canada, Nov. 15, 1908, the daughter of Alban and Helene Hache’ LeBlanc and was educated in the schools of Rogersville, N.B., Canada.

On Sept. 2, 1940, she married Joseph “Armand” Marcoux in Rumford. Mr. Marcoux died in 1998. Mrs. Marcoux had previously been employed at Oxford Paper Co. but for most of her life was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John Parish, and the Ladies of St. Anne.

Mrs. Marcoux took good care of her home and enjoyed being a homemaker very much. That interest extended to sewing, cooking, baking and having a green thumb, gardening. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life and she relished the time spent with them.

Survivors include two sons, Robert A. Marcoux and his wife Suki of Sun City, Fla., and Rumford and Gerald J. Marcoux and his wife Peggy of Dixfield; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Leblanc of Rumford, Mrs. Leona Sweeney of Nelson, N.B., Canada, and Mrs. Leo (Regina) Mcgraw of Rogersville, N.B., Canada; three grandchildren, Tracy Dowland, Jeff Marcoux and Wendy Abott; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Mandy Dowland, Owen, Dylan and Connor Abbott; also special friends, Geri Viger of Mexico and Caddy Smith of Dixfield.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Jake and Emile LeBlanc.
