WILTON – An Alabama man has been charged with gross sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman. He is being held on $5,000 cash bail at the Franklin County jail.
Michael Champion, 29, was arrested Wednesday at the place where he is staying on Thompson Street in Wilton, Franklin County Detective David St. Laurent.
Champion pleaded innocent Thursday in District Court, St. Laurent said.
The detective said Wilton officer James Black responded to a call from a woman being assaulted late Wednesday night. Black asked St. Laurent to assist him. The woman was taken to the hospital and interviewed there.
