DEL RIO, Texas – An episode of “FBI Files,” filmed in Del Rio, Texas, concerning a case of kidnapping and murder, aired on the Discovery Channel recently.

Auburn, Maine, native David Mercier portrayed one of the FBI agents who helped to solve the case and arrest the person accused of kidnapping and murdering a U.S. Custom’s agent on the U.S./Mexican border in Del Rio in 1984.

Mercier is a detective with the Del Rio Police Department and was assigned to assist the crew as they filmed the episode.

Mercier is a 1993 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn. He is the son of Richard and Yvette Mercier of Lewiston, Maine, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mercier of Sabattus, Maine, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Violette of Winter Haven, Fla.

Mercier is married to the former Allison Young of Del Rio and they have two children, Ashley and Austin. He has a brother, Scott, employed by the Auburn Police Department, and a sister, Melissa Kelly, employed by the Sabattus Police Department. His father, Richard, is also a retired Lewiston police officer.
