AUBURN — Medora Toutain, 98, formerly of 763 Lisbon St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, following a short illness.

Born in Lewiston, August 31, 1905, the daughter of Henrie and Alvina (Nadeau) Toutain, she had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was employed at the Pepperell Mill from 1921 to 1954. Then she became owner and operator of Medo’s Variety here in Lewiston from 1954 until her retirement in 1971.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed dining out, shopping, crocheting and playing bingo.

Survivors include her special niece and goddaughter, Lucille Pelletier of Auburn, who took care of her aunt until her placement was needed at Clover Manor Health Care Facility; one great-grandnephew, Caleb Ray of Greene, who meant so much to her; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.

She was predeceased by one brother, Armand Toutain and a sister, Carmellia Toutain.
