LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Senior Health and Wellness Services will offer the following programs to the region’s older residents during January:
Fit and Fun, a low-impact aerobics, strengthening, stretching and flexibility class, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fee will be charged.
The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute will sponsor a free ScoreKeeper cardiac risk assessment screening by appointment on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Integral to the ScoreKeeper screening process is a software program that creates a personalized report about an individual’s health status. Information provided by ScoreKeeper, if used effectively, can help an individual improve cardiovascular health.
Hearing Healthcare Associates will offer a free hearing screening from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16. Participants will learn about the acuity of their hearing and discover if their hearing might be improved. The screenings will be offered by appointment.
Bladder Health Consults with Angela Dubuc, RN, manager of the CMMC Bladder Control Center, will be offered on Monday, Jan. 19, by appointment. Participants can meet one-on-one to discuss concerns and learn about possible solutions to bladder-related problems. The consults are offered free.
“Putting Your House In Order” will be the topic of a presentation set for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Thomas Fogarty, Central Maine Healthcare’s vice president for development, will discuss financial planning and goal-setting, focusing on the importance of estate planning. The presentation is free.
Free blood pressure screenings will be offered on a walk-in basis from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.
