LEWISTON – Democratic presidential candidate and antiwar activist U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich will campaign in Lewiston on Wednesday.
Kucinich, who has been a long and outspoken opponent of the Bush war policies, plans to attend a 3 p.m. rally at Bates College in Lewiston.
After meeting with students, he will tour downtown Lewiston and meet with members of Maine People’s Alliance at their office at 278 Lisbon St.
Kucinich, an advocate of single-payer, privately delivered universal health care, will discuss his health care platform with the alliance members.
From Lewiston, Kucinich will travel to Westbrook to meet with union workers from the Sappi Paper Mill and discuss his platform on worker rights and his plan to withdraw the United States from NAFTA and the World Trade Organization trade agreements.
In the evening, he will attend a Democratic meeting in Portsmouth, N.H., and a fund-raiser in Kittery Point.
