LEWISTON – New Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care Policy Council officers have been named. They are Kirsten Frazier, chairwoman; Tina Hutchinson, vice chairwoman; Corinna Row, secretary; and Norman Ingerson, treasurer.
The duties and responsibilities of council members are to encourage parent participation in all of the Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care programs and to work in partnership with key management staff and the board of Directors to develop, implement, review and approve or disapprove budgets and work plans of programs, including any major changes.
Policy Council members usually meet on the first Monday of each month where they and their children gather for supper at 5 p.m., which is then followed by the Policy Council meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care, a United Way funded and Lewiston and Auburn CDBG supported agency, has provided quality child development services to families of pre-school children for over 37 years. Program options include: Center Based and Home Based head Start; Center Based and Home Based ChildCare; Early Head Start; HomeStart and Child Care Program. Services through these programs are provided to over 400 children and families throughout Androscoggin County.
All Head Start programs are free to eligible children and full day childcare services are available on a sliding fee scale for parents who are working, in school or participating in job training.
