I went to the Seeds of Peace Camp this summer which is held in Otisfield. At the camp there were many kids from around the world. In attendance were campers from Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Cypress, Greece, Kosovar, Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.

I had a great time at the camp, it seemed like there was always something to do. Our daily schedule included sports, water activities and more. We also had in-dept conversations about our communities problems and world affairs. Our living quarters consisted of roomy cabins with about nine campers and two counselors. it was quite comfortable and there was more privacy than I expected.

The counselors there were welcoming and funny. They were never too stiff and instead always joking around, like they were campers. A lot of the counselors were very intelligent. A couple of them were former or current students at Harvard or Yale. They provided plenty of entertainment during the two week session. A few counselors played musical instruments and were very talented.

I was quite skeptical about going to the camp because I wasn’t sure what it would be like. I felt like I would miss home but the days seemed to just fly by. I did decide to go because of all the stories I had heard from past campers. I am glad that I went to the camp because it seemed like a great life experience. I can’t wait to go back to the camp next year.
