1919 – 2004

FARMINGTON – Emma A. Paul, 84, of Farmington, died Wednesday Jan 14, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center where she had lived for the past two and a half years.

She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Porltand, the daughter of Herbert D. and Minnie A. (Richards) Carter. She was educated in the schools of Portland and married John Paul Sr. there in 1946. He died in May of 2001.

She worked for J.J. Newberry’s as a clerk for 12 years, then as a self-employed seamstress for over 20 years in the Farmington area, retiring in 1995.

She was the Secretary, Treasurer, and past member of the Red School House Extension, Past President and member of the Golden Rule Philathia Class, American Baptist Women, and Henderson Memorial Baptist Church as Deacon and Trustee. She enjoyed craft work, and especially dolls.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Chretein and her husband Robert of Portland; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Emily, Sarah, Dallas, and Megan; four great-grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Mercedes, and Shania; a sister, Anna Munson of Portland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years; a son, John (Jack) Paul Jr.; and a daughter, Catherine Towle.
