1928 – 2004
CANTON – Bernard George (Slugger) Desjardins, 76, of 51 Orchard St., Mexico, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Victorian Villa.
Born in Jay, Jan. 4, 1928, a son of Adolphe and Eugenie Parent Desjardins, he attended Jay High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked at the Dirigo High School as a school bus driver and custodian. He was a member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion.
His companion of many many years, Audrey G. Brann died Jan. 9 of this year.
He enjoyed following high school sports, family gatherings, summers at Concord Pond, and spending quiet afternoons at his picnic table in the back yard, with his soldiers.
He is survived by a son, Donnie (Donald) Brann and companion Pam of Rumford; Donnie’s sisters and brothers, Bonnie Clement and husband George of Rumford, Connie (Constance) Arsenault and husband Jim (Joseph) of Mexico, Ronnie (Ronald) Brann of Mexico, Lonnie (Loando) Brann and wife Catherine of Dixfield; their 11 children; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Sister Germaine Desjardins; and a brother, Charles Desjardins.
