1938 – 2004

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Larry Wayne Higgins, 66, a resident of Lake Street, Auburn, died early Thursday, Jan. 29, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born in Lewiston Jan. 14, 1938, the son of John Y. and Kathryn L. (Bolduc) Higgins. He was educated in the grammar schools of Auburn and was a 1956 graduate of Edward Little High School.

On Nov. 11, 1959, he married the former Lorraine L. Lefebvre in Lewiston.

From 1956 through 1958 Mr. Higgins served with the United States Marine Corps having been stationed at the Suez Canal.

Mr. Higgins was self-employed for most of his life having been owner, operator and President of Higgins Sports Center. Inc. of Auburn.

He was a member of the Auburn Exchange Club for 43 years, Ducks Unlimited, Auburn Skeet Club, was a life member of the N.R.A. and was a Charter member of C.A.D.A. and many other various clubs and organizations.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years of Auburn; his mother of Auburn; one daughter, Mrs. William (Kathryn R.) Jarboe of Lewiston; two sons, John Y. Higgins II and his wife Michelle of Auburn, and Michael R. Higgins and his companion Paula Audet of Sabattus; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Joan L.) Rice of Downingtown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Derek M. Higgins, Randi Rose Higgins and William Jarboe Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Winchester.
