NORWAY – Clyde W. Hemingway, 87, of Norway died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

He was born in Acton on March 1, 1916, the son of Leo C. Sr. and Myra E. Downing Hemingway. He attended schools in Milton Mills, N.H., East Lebanon, West Paris and Norway. He had been employed at Wilner Wood Heel, Snocraft Shipyard and Lord’s Tanning Co., B. E. Cole Shoe Shop and retired from A. C. Lawrence Leather Co. in April of 1978.

In his younger years he played all sports, especially bowling and he played catcher for the baseball team. He married S. Lorna Sturtevant on Jan. 15, 1938.

He is survived by: his wife of Norway; four daughters, Janice Walker and her companion, Donald Munn, of Waterford and Florida, Joyce Kennagh and her husband, Wayne, of South Paris, Joan Hill and her husband, Barry, of Norway and Jude Nason and her husband, Peter, of Albany Township; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Irma Jones and Avis Poland; and a brother, Leo C. Hemingway, Jr.
