DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Gloria Elizabeth (Smart) Malo, 80, died Monday, Feb. 2., at her home in Deerfield Beach, Fla., after a long illness.

Born on March 22, 1923, in Augusta, she was a long time resident of Auburn and was a seasonal resident of Poland for several years.

She was a loving, giving, energetic, and compassionate wife, mother, sister and friend. She was active in various community activities, an avid supporter of youth athletics for many years, a member of the Citizens Observer Patrol (COP) in Broward County, Fla., and a participant in The Way fellowship and biblical study organization.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Laurier P. Malo; her daughter, Cynthia Beals of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two sons, Michael Malo of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Bradford Malo of Brewster, Mass.; three sisters, Eleanor Simard of Auburn and Deerfield Beach, Fla., Pricilla Favreau of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Meg Chomicz of Delray Beach, Fla.
