1918 – 2004

AUBURN – Lucienne Butcher, 85, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, at Clover Manor.

She was born in St. Mathieu, Quebec, April 28, 1918, the daughter of Edouard and Mary (Bergeron) Girouard. She was one of 12 children. Her family subsequently moved to Berlin, N.H., where she attended local schools prior to moving to Lewiston in the late 1930’s.

She was first married to Gerard Perreault in 1939 who predeceased her. She worked for many years at the Bates Mill and later spent several years at Arrow Hart until her retirement. She later married Roland Butcher.

She enjoyed visiting her two sons in New York and California, family gatherings, spending time with her friends, the Ocean-Shore Communities, traveling, shopping and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Roland of Auburn; two sons, Robert Perreault and his wife Barbara of Thousand Palms, Calif., Richard and his fiancee Brenda Taylor of New York City; four grandchildren, Valerie Taylor, Michael Perreault, Peter Perreault, and Patience McDowell; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Jeanne Hyde and her husband Carlton of Lewiston, Germaine Cote of Florida, Cecile Findley of Danbury Conn., and Pauline Sylvia of Pawtucket, RI; two brothers, Adrien Girouard and his wife Colleen of Tupper Lake, N.Y., and Lucien Girouard and his wife Ida of Lewiston; and 32 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one grandson, Robert Perreault Jr.; three brothers, Armand, Romeo and Lionel Girouard; and two sisters, Theresa and Rita Girouard.
