1913 – 2004

PORTLAND – Raymond H. Jenkins, 90, of Falmouth, died Feb. 4, at a Portland hospital after a brief illness.

He was born March 4, 1913, in Portland the son of Herbert and Blanche (Pelton) Jenkins. He had been employed years ago by the Cumberland County Power and Light Co. and, later, for many years as a bus driver and dispatcher for the Portland Transit Co. Most recently he was the Treasurer for the Pine Grove Cemetery Corp. of Falmouth and was a consultant for the Portland Transit Federal Credit Union.

He was a member of the Falmouth Fire Department for 60 years and a member of Presumpscot Lodge 91 International Order of Odd Fellows of Falmouth. Mr. Jenkins had been active with the Boy Scouts and the Little League Association. He was also active in the organization of Falmouth’s Memorial Day Parade.

He and his wife of 59 years, Dot (McCann) Jenkins organized dances for teenagers held at Engine 3 Falmouth Fire Department during the 1950’s.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Gloria Jenkins of Jay; a son-in-law, Thomas Mestetsky of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Kathy Lavoie of Windham, Lisa Forman of St. Charles, IL, Judy MacCardle of Glendale, AZ, Edmund Mestetsky of Willow Grove, PA; great-grandchildren, Emily Betters, Erin Betters, Cole Lavoie, all of Windham, Michael Forman, Jennifer Forman, Daniel Forman, all of St. Charles, IL, Ian MacCardle, Kelcie MacCardle, Declan MacCardle, all of Glendale, AZ.

He was predeceased by Mrs. Jenkins in October 1997; and his daughter, Patricia Mestetsky.
