AUBURN – The victim of an incident initially investigated as a stabbing on Sunday told police he was cut when he jumped through a window.
Officers responded to 52 High St. after a woman called saying a man came through a window, stabbed her boyfriend and left.
The 29-year-old man denied that he was stabbed when interviewed at Central Maine Medical Center by investigators. He claimed he jumped through a window, shattering the glass.
The man, who police say moved to Auburn from New Jersey five months ago, was treated and released at CMMC.
Police in Auburn and Lewiston searched for a car with Connecticut license plates that was not located.
