PARIS – Dennis J. Phillipo, 26, of Casco received an 11-month sentence for his role in a home repair scam.
Phillipo is currently at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham for probation violation charges from York County.
He pleaded guilty Monday in Oxford County Superior Court to charges of theft by deception and home repair fraud. Along with the jail sentence he was ordered to pay $1,850 in restitution.
A third charge, failure to register as a transient seller, was dropped as part of the plea arrangement.
Phillipo was arrested in January 2003 by Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Justin Brown.
“The complaint came in as a forged check,” Brown said. He cut the tree limbs at an elderly person’s home in Waterford and then altered the check and cashed it in Norway.”
The original check was for $18.50 and was changed to $1,850.
The jail sentence will run concurrent with Phillipo’s probation violation charge, which was due to expire in July.
