Rollins too much for Devils
LEWISTON – Katie Rollins poured in a game-high 31 points to lead unbeaten Cony to a 73-47 rout over Lewiston in a late-season Class A basketball matchup.
Rollins sparked a 21-point third quarter for the Rams, who held a 34-24 lead at the half. Cassie Cooper chipped in with 16 points for Cony (15-0).
Amanda Bryant led the Blue Devils with 19 points, while Kelsey Varney chipped in with 10.
Lewiston (12-3) played a strong game defensively in the first half, and went point-for-point with Cony in the first quarter. But the Rams steadily pulled away for the win.
Lawrence 53, Ox. Hills 51
SOUTH PARIS – Holly Noyes buried a 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining in overtime to send Lawrence to a 53-51 victory over Oxford Hills 53-51.
Allie Marshall tallied 18 points for the Bulldogs (6-10). Noyes finished with 12 points.
Annie Foster’s basket with one second remaining in regulation tied the game for Oxford Hills (6-9) and forced overtime. She ended the day with 11 points.
Mt. Blue 66, EL 42
AUBURN – Amy Mansir drained 16 points to propel Mt. Blue to a 66-42 romp over Edward Little.
The Cougars held a narrow 25-20 lead at the half, then went on a 22-10 run in the third quarter to pull away.
Freshman Christina Mosher chipped in for the Cougars with 15 points.
Brittney French led the Red Eddies with a game-high 19 points and six rebounds, while Lacey Barnies added seven.
Leavitt 49, Waterville 46
WATERVILLE – Brittany Duncan scored 11 points as the Leavitt girls’ basketball team recorded its first win this season Tuesday with a 49-46 triumph over Waterville.
Lindsey Sierra and Bethany Burgess combined for 16 points for the Hornets (1-14). Sierra and Burgess each hit two pivotal free throws to extend the lead for Leavitt in the fourth quarter and to capture the win.
The Panthers (1-14) were paced by Megan Shapiro with 14 points and Rita Champagne added 12.
Wiscasset 50,
Mt. Abram 46
WISCASSET – Kristen Pierce notched 18 points and 11 boards to lead No. 8 Wiscasset to a 50-46 victory over No. 9 Mt. Abram in the preliminary round of the Western Class C tournament.
Sarah Whitfield scored all 14 of the first quarter’s points for the Redskins (11-8) win.
The Roadrunners (10-9) were paced by Stephanie Hood with 13 points and Jocelyn Plog with nine.
