1943 – 2004

AUBURN – William H. Keene Sr., 61, of Riverside Drive died Monday evening, Feb. 9, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Auburn on Jan. 8, 1943, the son of Glen and Margaret (Wagg) Keene Sr. He was educated in Auburn schools. He entered the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 where he served in the Vietnam War in the Quang Tre Province as well as many other areas of operations.

He was employed at Bath Iron Works in department 27. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping, cookouts and being in the hayfield with his brother Howard. Mr. Keene loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, the former Esther (Fowler) Keene of Auburn whom he married on Dec. 24, 1971; three sons, Brian and his wife Kimberly King of Lewiston, Salvatore Palazzolo and his companion Rhonda of Monmouth, William Jr. and his wife Carol Keene of Lewiston; one daughter, Deanna Macia of Auburn; one brother, Howard and his wife Linda Keene of Oxford; five sisters, Mrs. Don (Glenada) Bright of Sanford, Fla., Mrs. Terry (Tess) Capes of Universal City, Texas, Betty Breton of Durham, Mrs. Edward (Nancy) Young of Oxford, Mrs. Billy (Kathy) St. Michael of Durham; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He was predeceased by a sister, Frances in 1944; and a brother, Glen Keene Jr. in 2000.
