BETHEL – Getting organized is the intent of the newly-formed Ordinance Review Committee at its first meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the town office.

The committee, which was established by the Board of Selectmen last July, is tasked with reviewing comments and concerns regarding Bethel’s many ordinances.

Ordinance-related items up for review include:

• The Appeals Process

• The Shoreland Zoning map

• Access Management

• Site Plan Reviewed

• Signs

• Private/public roads

• The sewer system development charge fee

• Animal control

• Traffic and parking

The Appeals Process is already undergoing review in joint meetings with the Ordinance Review Committee, selectmen, and the Appeals and Planning boards.

Committee spokeswoman Elizabeth Cooper said committee members could provide input on these discussions through joint meetings, but could not conduct separate meetings on the subject.

She said the new committee expects to meet four to six times before town meeting in June.
