1906 – 2004

LEWISTON – Amy M. Wagg, 97, formerly of Bowdoin, died with her family at her side Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, at Russell Park Manor.

She was born in Webster, which is now Sabattus, May 31, 1906, a daughter of Lewis A. and Cora S. (Hamilton) Taylor and was educated in local schools. In her early years, she worked for a time as a mid-wife in Lisbon assisting Dr. Plummer.

Following that time she worked several years in local shoe shops and then at the Worumbo Mill. She later spent several years as a welder at BIW and then worked over 20 years at Raytheon in Waltham, Mass., until her retirement in 1971.

Following retirement, she moved back to the Lewiston and Greene community. She was, at one time, a member of the Lewiston Snow Shoe Club. Among her favorite enjoyments in her free time were crocheting, in which she made several different things but especially enjoyed finishing things in detailed fanciness, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and enjoying the company of her several pets over the years.

She leaves a daughter, Vera L. Allen of Bowdoin; a son, William H. Wagg and his wife Evelyn of Greene; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, John W. Wagg Sr. and Howard J. Wagg; one grandson, John Wagg III; three sisters, Lodema Young, Mona Skelton and Verna King; and one brother, Wilbur Taylor.
