OXFORD – The Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering more than twice the varieties if had last year for its annual tree and shrub sale.

The sale is a major fund-raiser for the district.

Heidi Lin Scott, office manager for the district, said there will be 100 varieties available this year, compared to the 45 varieties it offered in 2003.

“I had 80 orders last year,” Scott said.

This year the district’s Jami Whitney will provide free, technical advice in assisting landowners to choose plants and shrubs that keep erosion down and stop sediment from going into the lake.

Orders for trees and shrubs are due by April 1. The pickup of all materials will be May 1 at Smedberg’s Crystal Spring Farm on Route 26 in Oxford.

To obtain a list of trees and shrubs, or place an order phone the district at 743-5789, exts. 101, 109 or 113.
