Three of the top four women’s seeds advance in the opening round.

AUBURN – Nicole Sapolski poured in a game-high 20 points as top-seed Keystone College of Pennsylvania rallied for a 68-57 victory over No. 8 San Jose Christian in the opening round Monday of the USCAA women’s basketball national tournament at Central Maine Community College.

Keystone stormed back from an eight-point halftime deficit to stay in the winner’s bracket. Lynn Archer and Julie Lasher each added 12 points, while Archer and Sapolski combined for 26 rebounds.

Erika Stevenson dropped in 17 points for San Jose Christian.

Paul Smith 70, Davenport 69

AUBURN – Fabienne Jones and Alicia Bryant scored 18 points apiece to give No. 2 Paul Smith College the edge it needed over No. 7 Davenport University 70-69 in the opening round of the USCAA National Tournament Monday afternoon.

Suzy Jones chipped in with 11 points, while Shannon Myree added 10 for the Bobcats. Jones recorded 16 rebounds with her 18 points.

Karen Rugless sank a game-high 19 points for Davenport.

Arkansas Baptist 94,

New Hampshire Tech 56

AUBURN – Sabrina Nelson sank 21 points as third-seed Arkansas Baptist posted a dominating 94-56 victory over No. 6 New Hampshire Technical College in the quarterfinals of the USCAA National Tournament.

Kimberly Matthews and Sidra Porchia each added 13 points apiece for the winning Capitals.

Brandy Rollins and Melissa Gravilla combined for 42 of the Buffs’ 56 points.

Finlandia 71,

St. Joseph’s 58

AUBURN – Beth Koski recorded 30 points and hauled down 10 rebounds as No. 5 Finlandia University outlasted No. 4 St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn 71-58 in the USCAA National Tournament.

Hilary Lucarelli chipped in with 12 points, while Brooke Sirard added six points and 10 rebounds for the Lions.

St. Joseph’s was paced by Michelle Softy and Nicole Ciorciari, who netted 16 points apiece.
