SHERBROOKE, Quebec – Kate Dickinson, a freshman at the University of Maine at Farmington, captured a 3,000-meter racewalk last weekend in a meet featuring teams of walkers from Maine and Quebec.

Dickinson was clocked in 15 minutes 16.84 seconds, 12 seconds ahead of Mt. Blue sophomore Carly Lochala (15:28.08) for second. Jessie Smith (17:49.64) and Heather Cyr (18:40.18), both students at Mt. Blue, finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

Pierre-Luc Menard of Quebec won the men’s 5,000-meter race. Maine walkers swept the next several spots with Farmington’s Adam Staier leading the contingent with a second-place time of 24:04.46. Daniel Pendergast of UMF was third (25:09.17) and Leavitt’s Kyle Libby placed fourth (25:11.24).
