BUCKFIELD – There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at the new $200,000 town garage. The garage will be open until 1 p.m.
Town Manager Cindy Dunn said all residents are invited to attend. Everyone who had a part in the project will be recognized.
Three junkyard violators attended Tuesday night’s meeting. Allen Young of 18 Shed Hollow Road asked for an extension until July because cleanup is difficult until mud season is over. The selectmen granted the extension.
Roger Bennett and James Bishop, both of Depot Street, presented no form of intent to come into compliance.
Richard Piper was appointed to the Planning Board.
Five properties were voted to be foreclosed on and the owners will be given 90 days to purchase the property back from the town for a price that totals all back taxes, current taxes, accrued interest and costs. Those properties are: David A. Cooper, 20 North Buckfield Road, land and buildings; Christine Dillingham, 208 Brock School Road, building only; Richard G. and Patricia Freve, 107 Hebron Road, land and buildings; Laurel H. and Montress Jones, 274 East Buckfield Road, land only; and Nezinscot Industries Inc., Railroad Bed Recreation Trail, land only.
Selectmen will conduct a site review on a water line easement on Faunce Road requested by the Buckfield Water Department.
There was an informational meeting to discuss road surveys and the municipal center landscaping project. No decisions were made.
