AUBURN – Roopers/Fireside Inn (1) and GE (3) are the only two unbeaten teams remaining after the second week of playoff action in the Auburn Rec Men’s Slowdown Basketball League.

Jesse St. Laurent netted 15 points and Greg Viner added 13 as Roopers/Fireside defeated Gemini Nutrition (5) 57-49. John Stanton poured in 22 points for Gemini. Matt Winslow added 7.

GE edged Diesel Boys (2) 64-58 as Frank Perry scored 18. Jason Douglas and Ryan Giroux added 12 apiece. Ron Greco paced Diesel Boys with 17. Scott Corriveau added 9.

There were 3 elimination games Monday. Shooters (9) squeezed out a 52-49 victory over Brew Crew (6). Dave Madore (17) and Ethan Wall (10) led the winners. Keith Danner (17) and Ray White (8) sparked the Crew.

Jim Davis tallied 22 points and Larry Jackson added 14 as 86ers (8) nipped LA Orphans (11) 59-57. Jeremy Hiltz collected 19 for Orphans. Jake St. Hilaire was next with 10.

Thayer Auto (7) eliminated West Shore (4) 48-46 as James Whirley netted 18 and Chris Randall 14. Bob Bowie (13) and Mike Berry (11) led the Westies.

There were 2 other elimination contests during the week. LA Dox (10) continued to surprise by ousting Shooters 62-49. David Baker and Verne Paradie each scored 22. Justin Buckwalter (10) and Craig Beaudoin (9) paced the losers.

And Thayer Auto stayed alive with an exciting 48-47 win over 86ers. Randall led with 17 markers. David Ferraro added 8. Davis led 86ers with 15. Matt Carroll added 9.

Two more elimination games are scheduled Monday. Gemini will meet LA Dox at 6:00, followed by Diesel Boys-Thayer Auto at 7:30. Roopers/Fireside and GE will clash in the winners’ bracket at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Monday’s winners will meet at 7:30.

The semifinal game will be held Wednesday at 6:00, matching the Roopers/GE loser against the winner of Tuesday’s 7:30 game. The survivor advances to the finals against the Roopers/GE winner on Friday at 6:30.
