AUBURN – Joseph R. Kester and Thomas M. Kester, brothers and members of Boy Scout Troop 111 at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at a dual Court of Honor ceremony on March 28. Scoutmaster Raymond Begin leads the troop.

Joe joined the troop in 1997. His Eagle Scout leadership project consisted of refurbishing Chestnut Street Park in Auburn, including replacing boards and painting park benches planting trees. Tom joined the troop in 1998. His Eagle Scout leadership project consisted of installing a new bleacher for the L/A Youth Soccer Association soccer field.

Local businesses gave donations and supplies to help the Scouts. Their efforts to reach Eagle Scout were supported by their parents, Dr. Robert and Louise Kester, and their two brothers, William and Douglas, who are also Scouts. The Kester family lives in Auburn.

Troop 111 is the oldest Boy Scout group in the Lewiston/Auburn area and will mark its 75th anniversary at a celebration at Lost Valley on Saturday evening, April 17. Those interested in attending or making a donation toward the event may call Norman Martin at 783-9432.
