FARMINGTON – The second annual Farmington Rotary Club’s Price is Right held recently at Mount Blue High School was called a success by organizers and lots of fun by contestants, especially for the final showcase winner, Bobbi Tracy of Farmington.
Tracy took home a complete kitchen appliance set of side-by-side refrigerator, ceramic top range, washer and dryer and over-the-range microwave provided by C.J.’s Appliance of Farmington and valued at $3,500.
The total value of prizes won by contestants during the evening was $4,500.
“Besides my children and my husband, this was the most wonderful thing that has happened to me,” said Tracy, who had help from her mother, Rosetta Thompson, from her seat in the third row. “I had no idea about prices.” Tracy lives with her husband, Bruce, and children in Farmington.
More than 274 attended the event, one of the Rotary’s major fund-raisers of the year, and all proceeds are used to support area charities and programs.
The theme of the evening was the 50s, and master of ceremonies, Farmington attorney Paul Mills, was assisted by Kent Wiles of Wiles Funeral Homes, with the stage crew all dressed in vintage clothing. Music was provided by DJ Donald Beane of Wilton.
A dozen area businesses provided the prizes for the seven games, including a blueberry pottery set from Calico Patch, a down sleeping bag from K&J Sports, carved marble bookends and polar bear from Mainestone, snowmobile helmet and gloves from Brady’s Snowmobile, a Canadian rocker from Bouffard’s Furniture, a circular saw from Hammond Lumber, a blown-glass vase from Frost Antiques, and garden cart and accessories from Aubuchon Hardware. Aardvark Outfitters, Northern Lights Hearth and Sport, and Reny’s also participated.
