AUBURN – Fidelity Rebekah Lodge 4 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Odd Fellows Hall, corner of Elm and Academy streets. The program will be roll call of membership and to repeat the obligation. All Rebekahs are invited. Refreshments, provided by Ellen Parady, will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Robin Dow

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street. There will be the usual raffle table and all donated items will be appreciated. Tickets will be on sale for the trip to Foster’s Lobster House, York, on Friday, June 11, price $42. Eighty members met April 14 under the direction of the president, Dorothy Larrabee. Janette and Francis Breton and Larry Manser were introduced and welcomed as new members. April birthdays were acknowledged. Attendance prize winners were Lucy Cowles and Bernice Parks; pot of gold, Flo Bailey, Arlene Sieckowski and Dorothy Larrabee. An Easter dinner was prepared and served under the direction of Lucien Marcoux and his volunteer crew after the meeting. Following this, members played bingo.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – The speaker at the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club meeting at the Ramada Inn on Thursday, April 29, will be Betsy Norcross-Plourde of Advocates for Children. The club meets at noon and anyone interested in the program or in knowing more about Rotary is invited to attend. The cost of the luncheon is $8.

RICHMOND – Gary and Roberta Nash have been selected to receive the Community Citizen Award to be presented by Enterprise Grange 48, Alexander Reed Road, at the Grange Open House on Thursday, April 29. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. with ceremonies to dedicate the handicapped access ramp to the Senior Citizen Group and present the award at 7:15. After graduating from Richmond High School and marrying, the Nashes decided to make their lives in Richmond. They have worked as a team to expand their businesses and raise their family. Townspeople are invited to share stories about the Nashes at the open house. There will be displays of grange activities to give Richmond residents an opportunity to see what grange is all about. Fellowship

LISBON – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet on Monday, May 3, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. A potluck lunch will be held at noon. All interested widows in the area are invited to attend.

Free luncheon

MECHANIC FALLS – The First Congregational Church on Elm Street will host a free luncheon of hot casseroles, salad, rolls and desserts at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12. Stanton speaker

AUBURN – Judy Walker, Maine Audubon Society staff naturalist, will be the featured speaker at the meeting of the Stanton Bird Club at 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the High Street Congregational Church. Her topic will be “Important Bird Areas from Ecuador to Maine.”

In an effort to further the conservation of birds and their habitats, Maine Audubon and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife have initiated a statewide Important Bird Areas Program.

In her presentation, Walker will show slides from a recent trip to the Galapagos and the Tandayapa region of Ecuador, which was the first designated bird area in the world. Walker will share stories from her trip, as well as outline the goals and criteria for the Maine program.

The meeting, the last of the season, will be followed by light refreshments. All club meetings, field trips and natural history programs are free, and all are welcome. For more information, contact Susan Hayward at 782-5238.
