FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington Dancers will present its 24th annual spring concert, Form and Image, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 6 and 7, in Alumni Theater on Academy Street.

The original choreographies cover a variety of subject matter. Alumnae Cassie Pillsbury, Class of 2000, will return to campus to present “Fall 2003 Revisited/The Night of the Blizzard in Case You Weren’t There.”

Leah Cordes Hayes, Class of 2000, received her master’s in dance therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colo., and is presenting a solo called, “Little One,” to music by Chopin. It’s about the forthcoming birth of her soon-to-be born daughter, Emily.

Student choreographer Erica Connolly will present “Broken Plastic,” a dance set to poetry about the Barbie doll’s impact on the body images of American women.

Senior psychology major Jocelyn Daigle has created “Out of Reach,” a comedic structured improvisation inspired by a prevalent skin condition caused by living through Maine winters.

“Back and Backpacks,” “The Sweater,” “Clandestine Meetings,” “Shoulda” and “Rites of Passage” have all been choreographed by the troupe’s founder and artistic director, Margaret Gould Wescott.

The concert finale is a collaboration between Gould Wescott and assistant professor of art Mike McFalls. The dancers interact with pieces of sculpture called “Collective Masses I and II.” McFalls’ sculpture is an exploration beneath the surface of commonplace objects.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the door from the box office, which opens at 6 p.m. before each performance.
