LITCHFIELD – Merrill and Patricia Harvey of Litchfield celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently at the Litchfield Plains Baptist Church.

The couple’s daughters and their families planned the event and a special program was presented to the couple by family and friends.

Mr. Harvey and the former Patricia Fish were married on Jan. 30, 1954, at the Plains Church in Litchfield. Their children are Dawn Mills, Kim and Vic Tessari, Stephanie Robbins, Margaret Harvey, Dodi and Dan Washburn and Jennifer and Dustin Oliver.

Their grandchildren are Scott and Isaiah Mills, Courtney and Chelsey Goudreau, Eben Tessari, B.J. and Mallory Robbins, William and Zac Harvey, Elijah, Luke and Olivia Washburn and Oakley and Madelyn Oliver.

Mrs. Harvey is a graduate of Litchfield Academy and is involved in church and Sunday school activities. She is a member of the Eastern Star, is president of the Legion Auxiliary and participates in town activities. She is a homemaker and enjoys her grandchildren and snowmobiling.

Mr. Harvey is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a self-employed dairy farmer for over 40 years. He was also employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut. He is a member of farm organizations and is involved in church activities. He was president of the Farmers Club for many years and is also a member of the Masons and American Legion. He is an avid coon hunter and snowmobiler.

The 150 guests attended from Litchfield, West Gardiner, Gardiner, Augusta, Farmingdale, Oakland, Richmond, Winthrop, Jefferson, Massachusetts, Florida, Michigan and Connecticut.
