BRIDGTON – The Bridgton Hospital Diabetes Clinic will sponsor its five-part diabetes education program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17 in the new hospital clinic wing.
The series requires physician referral and early registration is suggested due to its popularity (class size is limited to assure personal attention). Topics covered include What is Diabetes Mellitus, Proper Foot Care and Diabetes, Eye Care and Diabetes, Meal Plans and Diabetes and Medications for Diabetes.
In addition to Elaine Drew, RN/CDE, a registered nurse who is also a certified diabetes nurse educator, lecturers will include Dr. Shannon Meredith, podiatrist; Dr. Thomas Gordon, optometrist; Linda Russell, licensed dietitian; and Dr. Chuck Frost, pharmacist.
The classes are designed to give general information about diabetes and help patients manage their diabetes. The course also introduces patients to a diabetes support system.
A dietary consultation is required, and should be done before the classes begin.
The Bridgton Hospital Diabetes Clinic was recently awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate for its quality self-management education program
Participants are encouraged to bring a relative or a friend.
