POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Old Schoolhouse, 1229 Maine St., next to the Poland Town Office. Following the business meeting, refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.

VFW meeting

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the post home, Route 196. All members are invited and new members are welcome. The agenda will include installation of officers, Memorial Day plans and upcoming events. For more information, call 353-5291 after 3 p.m

Garden tour

AUBURN – The Garden Club of the Woman’s Literary Union will tour Webster Harrison’s daffodil garden on Thursday, May 20. Members are asked to meet at Harrison’s home at 256 Oak Hill Road, East Auburn, at 2 p.m.

LEWISTON – Lewiston-Auburn Toastmasters Club 1741 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Bates Mill Complex, first floor conference room, 35 Canal St.

Speakers will be Kathleen Szostek, Walter Stradt and Bill Lee. Toastmasters welcomes all visitors and they are always looking for new members.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve (SHARE), part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will have Distribution Day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. Registrations for June will be taken. New and former participants in the Serve, formerly SHARE, program are welcome. For more information, call Janet at 784-2164.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 11 at the Multi-Purpose Center.

North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Doug and Betty Sise; second, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; third, Paul Sherman and Martine Begert. Flight B winners were: first, Doug and Betty Sise; second, Nancy Farmer and Joann Morris.

East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; third, Dick Horne and Nancy Lindgren. Flight B winners were Maude Abbott and Claire Lyons.

Another game will be held Tuesday, May 18, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met at Schooner Estates in Auburn on May 12. Winners in Flight A were: first, Mike St. John and Dorothy Kelleher; second, John Hackett and Ray Sirois; third, Pat Quinn and Mary Leahey; fourth, Bruce Murray and David Wallace.

Flight B winners were: first, Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons; second, Richard Balian and Don Johnson. Another game will be held at Schooner Estates on Wednesday, May 19. For details and/or a partner, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.
