BANGOR – Josephine Tutlis, 87, of Dixfield, died Thursday, May 20, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center.

She had been a resident of the area for many years and resided on the Canton Point Road, Dixfield.

She was born in Portland, on May 6, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Antoinette (Mortus) Waznis, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, with the Class of 1936.

She had been employed as a C.N.A. for the Rumford Hospital for over 26 years until her retirement.

She was a member of the Lithuanian Daughters, a communicant of St. Athanasius-St John Church, and she loved gardening and was well known for her beautiful flowers.

Survivors include a daughter, Marion Hodsdon and husband Roy of Dixfield; a son, Martin Wasilauskis and wife Linda of Millinockett; three sisters, Anthonine Carter of Mountain Rest, S.C., Helen Heath of Pickens, S.C., and Mary Smelling of Washington State; a brother, Frank Waznis of Rumford; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Frank Wasilauskis and Anthony Tutlis; and a sister, Anne.
