AUBURN – Six members of the Lost Valley Race Club, representing Maine, excelled in post-season events sanctioned by MARA, an affiliate of the United States Ski Association. These were All-East events, with racers representing 10 Eastern states, and part of the USA Junior Olympic Program.
All of the racers participating were top qualifiers in their region for their age division, through qualifying races held during the ski season.
Four of the six qualified for the Francis Piche Invitational Race at Gunstock, N.H., with the following results: J5 Girls (10-under), Isabel Kannegieser, Minot, 13th; J5 Boys, Peter Cole, Gardiner, 2nd; J4 Boys (11-12), Brody Youland, and J3 Boys (13-14), Ryan Fitzsimons, both of Turner, had fine first runs.
Two earned their way to the Future Stars Competition at Sugarloaf, exclusively for the J4 Division. Tomi Chipman of Poland placed 56th for the girls, while Casey Myrick of Auburn finished 4th for the boys.
