LEWISTON – State road crews will disrupt traffic on Russell Street Saturday and on Main Street Sunday.

Workers will raise a sign on Russell Street between College and Main streets Saturday morning. The work will block part of the ramp from westbound Russell Street onto Main Street, according to Gary Hoar of the Maine Department of Transportation.

“Our intent is to get in, do the work and get out as quickly as possible,” Hoar said. He expects work to wrap up by afternoon.

Crews Sunday night will tear up pavement between Longley Bridge and Canal Street in Lewiston on Main Street. Crews are scheduled to begin the work at 6 p.m. Sunday, tying up the Auburn-bound lanes.

“Hopefully, we’ll get it done in one night,” said Herb Noyes of Maine DOT. “But if we don’t, we’ll be back the following night.”

The work is part of a six-week bridge deck replacement project.
