PARIS – Richard C. Josselyn of Paris, died unexpectedly on Friday. He was born on Oct. 5, 1928 in Brocton, Mass. to Carlton and Helen Josselyn, served in the Army after graduating from Whitman High School, where he spent 2 years in Japan as an entertainment specialist.

He married Gail Harding of Whitman on Dec. 24, 1950. The couple made Harwich, on Cape Cod, their home where he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in the Harwich Center post office. He was also a member of the Musician’s Union and worked occasional evenings and weekends as a rhythm guitarist with many of Cape Cod’s great musicians. He was often found on the Harwich Junior Theater’s stage where he enjoyed character parts. He also served as an auxiliary policeman for the Town of Harwich. Richard and Gail retired to Maine in 1984.

Dick, as he was known by friends and family, loved golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing and family gatherings. He was an active member of the Oxford Advent Christian Church, where he was a Bible study leader and a guitarist on the worship team.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; four sons, Terence Josselyn of Sandwich, Mass., David Josselyn of Walpole, Mass., Eric Josselyn of Harwich, Mass. and Joel Josselyn of Provincetown, Mass.; three daughters, Suzanne Moody of Gainesville, Fla., Joanne Page of Harwichport, Mass. and Julie Ellis of Sutton, Vt.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was held in high regard by all who knew him. He loved people and no adult or child ever went unnoticed. He felt blessed in life. He will be missed.
