COLEBROOK, N.H. – The wedding of Melissa Dawn Vashaw and Eric Thomas Hodgkins was held at 2 p.m. on June 21 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Albert Bellefeuille and the Rev. Nancy Hodgkins, sister of the bridegroom, officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Hodgkins is the daughter of Donald and Suzanne Vashaw of Hopkinton, N.H. Mr. Hodgkins is the son of David and Martha Hodgkins of Turner.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white beaded gown, off-the-shoulder, with A-line skirt and a semi-Cathedral train with shimmering lace detail. She carried a hand-tied bouquet consisting of two dozen red roses with eucalyptus and baby’s breath.

Jennifer MacPherson, best friend of the bride, was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Kathy Patterson, Kara Sweatt, Maida Velez and Kilee Douglass, friends of the bride, and Christie Parker, cousin of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Kellen and Kaitlin Fitzgerald, friends of the bride.

Serving as best man for his brother was Jon Hodgkins and ushers were Matthew Vashaw, brother of the bride, and Ron Milley, David Thomas, Corey Theriault and Rich Veilleux, friends of the bridegroom. Junior ushers were Patrick Fitzgerald, friend of the bride, and Jonathan Sicard, cousin of the bride.

A reception followed at the Northland Restaurant in Canaan, Vt., after which the couple traveled to Las Vegas, Nev., for a week, which was a gift from the bridegroom’s brother. They are residing in Auburn.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Colebrook Academy and a 2001 graduate of Plymouth State College. She has a degree in childhood studies and is an English as a second language teacher for the Auburn School District.

The bridegroom graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1993 and from the University of Maine at Orono in 1998. He has a degree in construction management and works as a project manager for Granger Northern Inc. in Portland.
