DIXFIELD – Wingnuts Improv Comedy Troupe will wrap up the Dixfield Coffee House for the summer with two family friendly comedy set, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 12.
The Wingnuts are made up of local comedians from Rumford, Dixfield and Peru and perform regularly throughout Maine.
The audience gets into the act by providing scene suggestions, writing lines and playing along. Players Rosie “Giggle Pants” Bradley, Penny “The Punster” Carver, Max “Look Out” DeMilner, Lisa Picard “The Woman Who Knows No Bounds,” and “Master Impersonator” Duane Glover round out the troupe directed by Nancy O. “The Storyteller” DeMilner.
The setting is casual and coffee, sodas and desserts are for sale.
Tickets are $5 at the door for adults with accompanying children under 12, free.
Scout breakfast
RUMFORD – A Scout Breakfast will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Rumford Lodge of Elks 862. All boy and girl scout organizations in the area are invited to the breakfast. Camperships offered
RUMFORD – The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition has secured funding to offer camperships for local children ages 5-12 to attend Black Mountain Day Camp.
A grant from the Agnes M. Lindsay Trust will finance camperships for up to four weeks. Camperships are available to River Valley children who might not otherwise afford the $60 weekly fee to attend.
The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust supports a number of health and welfare organizations, health projects, special needs, including the blind, deaf and learning disabled, the elderly, children’s hospitals, children’s homes, youth organizations, youth/family services and summer Camperships/summer enrichment programs.

133rd benefit
RUMFORD – A 133rd Engineering Battalion Relief benefit will be held starting at noon Saturday, July 24, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. Entertainment is by Jimmy Austin, Karaoke and dancing with a live band. There will be hot meatball subs, pastries, snacks, Chinese raffles, live large items auction, 50/50 bake sale and much more.
There are about 500 members of the 133rd. People from other area towns are invited to attend. Anyone interested in helping may attend a meeting at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the VFW Hall on Waldo Street. Donations may be sent to 133rd Engineer Battalion Relief Benefit, 12 Dix Ave., Mexico ME 04257.
