LEWISTON – Marie Ange Alphena Philippon Carpentier, 86, of 121 Rosedale Street, Lewiston, died Sunday, June 13, at the home of Ron Ouellette. She previously lived at her home at 43 Oxbow Dr. in Lewiston.
She was born in Lewiston on April 30, 1918, the daughter of Alphee and Cedulie (Aube) Philippon. She was married to Jean Paul Carpentier on June 24, 1939. Her husband of 51 years died Sept. 28, 1990.
A member of Holy Family Parish, she was a life-long member of St. Ann Sodality. She started singing at the age of 10 years old and for many years sang at church weddings and funerals. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from the Unique Academy of Hair Dressing. She operated her beauty salon for many years on Homefield Street, Lewiston and then worked for the Navy Exchange Beauty Shop in Brunswick for twelve years until her retirement.
She was a loving, thoughtful person, and was loved by people whose lives she touched. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, godmother and aunt. She will be truly missed by her family. She loved to attend mass and sing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family which included seven sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include a very devoted sister, Fernande Philippon and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six sisters, Juliette Olivier, Yvette Philippon, Collette Fillion, Noella Jones, Dina Brocken and Sister Veronica (Murielle Philippon) and five brothers, Reginald, Gerald, Donald, Reginald II and Normand Philippon.
