AUBURN – Lloyd Arthur Moreau, 61, of 64 Sherry Lane, Auburn, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 23.

He was born in Westbrook, June 11, 1943, a son of Arthur R. and Marie D. Swim Moreau. He attended St. Hyacinth Grammar School and graduated from Westbrook High School in the Class of 1961.

He pursued a career with Zayre and Ames Department Stores for 41 years, working throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, as manager until the closing in 2002. He then went to work at L.L. Bean.

He was very active in Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts, Portland and Waterville Jaycee’s, Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce, and as President of the Red Cross Chapter in Presque Isle.

After moving to Auburn, he became a member of the Auburn Catholic Community at Sacred Heart Parish where he enjoyed volunteering. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to all their activities.

He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Brenda Penley of Auburn, whom he married May 23, 1964; his daughter, Michelle R. and her husband Roger Andrews of Brunswick; his sons, Christopher C. Moreau and wife Melissa of Auburn, James A. Moreau and wife Cathy of Gray; his grandchildren, Conor, Courtney, Kaleigh, Keegan, Craig and Ashley Moreau, Ryan and Justin Andrews; his mother, Marie Doris Moreau of Westbrook; his sister, Patricia Frechette and husband Arnie of Gorham; his brothers and sisters-in law, Michael and Evelyn Moreau of Windham, David and Anita Moreau of Westbrook, Dale and Robyn Moreau of Cape Elizabeth; his father-in law, Channing B. Penley of New Gloucester; sister-in-law, Elaine Golding and her husband James of Florida; 11 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Arthur R. Moreau; and his mother-in-law, Madeline G. Penley.
