LEWISTON – Paul J. Brunetti of Lewiston, Jared J. Cash and Ryan M. Shepard, both of Norway, and Sarah J. Fournier of Livermore Falls were among 450 graduates to receive bachelor’s degrees May 31 from Bates College during the 138th commencement exercises.

Brunetti graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. A dean’s list student, he was the president of the Bates Democrats. A graduate of Lewiston High School, Brunetti is the son of Ronald and Leslie Brunetti.

Cash graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and political science. A dean’s list student, he was a member of the Representative Assembly, the student government at Bates, and a member of the football team. A graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, he is the son of Donald and Janet Cash.

Shepard graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of art degree in political science and rhetoric. A dean’s list student, he graduated with honors in rhetoric. A Dana Scholar awarded for excellence in academics and leadership in 2001, he received the Almon Cyrus Libby Award for excellence in public speaking and debate, the Claire E. Turner Award for excellence in public debate and the Charles Sumner Libby Award for outstanding service in the debate program.

Shepard was elected to the College Key on the basis of academic standing, character, service, leadership and future promise, and served as a resident coordinator. He is a graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and is the son of Maxine Burns.

Fournier graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English. A dean’s list student, she is a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. Fournier is the daughter of Debra Fournier, Livermore Falls, and Bruce Fournier, Florida.
