EAST WILTON – SonHarvest County Fair is the theme for a vacation Bible school to be held July 11 through July 16 at the Union Church. Children participating in the school will discover how to grow the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience and kindness. There will be lively songs, crafts, games, Bible stories and snacks. Classes for children begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 11. Parents are being invited to join them at 6 p.m. Friday, July 16, for a barbecue and musical presentation. CPR course set for July 17

FARMINGTON – Registrations are being accepted for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation course that will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

The course, which will follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association, is designed for the general public. It will include information on basic cardiac life-support techniques for adults, children and infants, as well as instruction on auto-electronic defibrillators.

People must attend the entire course to receive certification. The fee of $40 includes a textbook. Class size is limited and preregistration, as well as a pre-test, is required.

Free health fair

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Eat Well Program is inviting area children to a free “Teddy and Me” health fair. Designed for youngsters kids age 10 and under, it will be held 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church on the Farmington Falls Road. Children are welcome to bring their favorite stuffed friend or doll. There will be costumed characters, games, healthy snacks, craft, a tea party, and a reading and rest area. Space is limited. People are asked to call 778-4650 to sign up.

Hunter safety classes

RANGELEY – A free hunter-safety course will be offered by the Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association at the group’s clubhouse on Old Skiway Road in Oquossoc. The classes, open to all prospective gun hunters, will be 6 to 9 p.m. July 19 and 20, and July 26 and 27.

Children between 10 and 12 must be accompanied by an adult. People may preregister by calling River’s Edge at 864-5582.

GOP meeting

WILTON – The Franklin County Republican Committee met recently to make plans for the summer months. Russ Black, the county chairman, led the meeting. Seven towns were represented at the meeting. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, at the Wilton Town Office. The August meeting will be a potluck cookout at 5 p.m. Aug. 22 at the home of Roger Lambert in Strong. Plans for the Farmington Fair will be discussed at the meetings, and jobs will be assigned. Fund-raising will be a priority. All town chairmen are welcome to attend the meetings..000
