FARMINGTON – A 5-year-old Livermore Falls boy died Thursday after he got caught beneath his mother’s SUV as she turned around in his grandfather’s driveway.

Benjamin Donnell was pronounced dead on arrival at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Police Chief Richard Caton III said.

Caton said Lisbeth Donnell, 37, of Meadow Brook Lane in Livermore Falls, was turning around in her father’s driveway on Adams Circle when her son ran from behind the house and was struck by the vehicle as it was backing up. He became caught under a front wheel, he said.

Donnell’s 8-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time.

The accident was reported at 3:30 p.m., and Farmington police, firefighters and LifeStar ambulance personnel freed the child in five minutes, Caton said.

The boy was flown by medical helicopter from the Fairbanks ball field to Central Maine Medical Center.

Farmington police officer Bridgette Dellarma is investigating the accident.
