FARMINGTON – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension of Franklin County will present three programs for young people to early teens. Any child younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling.

These programs will feature Chief Combo; the Pyramid “5 a day” puppets; tasty, healthy snacks; food safety; arts and crafts; and physical fitness.

The programs will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on July 13, 14 and 15 at Kineowatha Park in Wilton; July 20, 21 and 22 at the home of Sherry Blauvelt in Chesterville; and Aug. 10, 11 and 12 at the Carthage Town hall.

Rebekahs meeting

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet at the summer cottage of Frances Berry on Brettuns Pond at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, for a potluck lunch.

The meeting will follow at 1:30 p.m. with a program by Glennys Wilkins on the Pyramid Plan.

Parade, field day planned Saturday

FARMINGTON FALLS – The Falls Fire Company’s 44th annual parade and field day will be Saturday, July 17. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and all entries are welcome.

Prizes will be awarded for parade entries: $150 for first; $75 for second and $25 for third. There will also be prizes for bicycle and doll carriage entries. The theme is Life’s Celebrations.

A chicken barbecue will be served after the parade, as well as hot dogs, cold drinks, baked food, a pie raffle and a prize raffle.

Entertainment will include music by Silver Seasons, an afternoon baseball game and games for children.

Dance to support troops

JAY – A dance to support U.S. troops, Christmas in July, will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, July 17, at the Amvets Hall. Tickets will only be available in advance. Tickets are available at the hall.
